Chemical testing

I have been testing my marine water for about 2 months. Tank is new. I did an experiment and tested pure (reverse osmosis) water and pure water with sea salt added (store bought aquarium sea salt water used was also RO). I noticed in the plain pure water the water changed color to a light green but was clear when Ammonia test chemical was added..but in the water + Salt combination the water also changed color to a light green but was cloudy or almost milky when ammonia test chemical was added. Is this normal?

I don't know, the water in your area might have something that reacts w/ your test kit in that manner. What type of kit do you have?

I know that the Tropic Marian test kit for ammonia will turn milky when testing make-up water but pure water the color is clear, no effect on the testing according to them.
