Beamswork 3W LEDs question

I was about to buy one of their 1W units and yesterday I noticed the 3W on eBay. Very cheap.

Which is better for a 10 gallon reef, 30 watts or 48 watts? How high above the water surface to mount LEDs? I have beginner corals now but I'd like to get a clam if possible.

Never heard of that brand. 1w leds are good for fish only tanks. 3w cree or bridge lux leds are what you should be looking for. Cree. Leds are the best so far.

I'd pass on the beamswork unit also, they look cheap and the heatsink is just a thin strip of aluminum. For a 10g tank I'd use a PAR38 LED bulb and rent a PAR meter to help with the setup (ie - how high to keep the light).

I've got 72W of T5 on it now. I've got no experience with LEDs. For $75 it will be a cheap lesson one way or another. Thanks for replies.
