One think I would like to do with my 4 year old son is have a try at raising a few clown fish in a 30 gallon tank.
I'm not sure that in this environment a anemone would be need as the clown fish will be the only ones in this tank.

But I wanted to get others thoughts on this.
We would like to find a mated pair of clown fish and thought it would be neat to find a anemone to host them.

I read some sad stuff here Anemones and Clown Fish , but what are your thoughts?

Has anyone had a batch of babies and raised them?

It is quite a task to breed clowns and raise the fry. The big problems are getting a pair of clowns, getting then to lay eggs, and the toughest is raising the fry. The fry require very small food, usually in the form of rotifer cultures. This is really beyond about 90% of reef keepers, but we do have some who have done it.

As for anemones, they require well established tanks, with top quality water, and excellent lighting. If you want an anemone, I'd suggest you wait about a year before you try one.
