I've got an old RSM130 that I bought used and have had for years. The internal fluorescent tubes died long ago and I replaced them with Exocotic Panorama strips attached inside the hood. Not such a good idea as they corrode and die every couple of years; but I just replaced them periodically and it worked OK. Now that model is unavailable; all that Exocotic produces are the versions designed to sit on legs atop the tank.
I'm looking at three options
(1) Look for reasonably inexpensive strips that I could attach under the hood - can anyone recommend any brands ?
(2) Leave the front cover lifted and get a light that sits on top of the tank. The open space would be 23" X 3" -- not very big
(3) Dump the whole cover and just use a tank-top light. I don't want to get into a suspended light, as I'm not confident of my DIY ability to attach a hook in the ceiling. Maybe something that sits on the tank or a clamp-type lamp?
I don't want to spend a whole lot -- maybe a couple of hundred. Does anyone have any ideas?
