Acclimating corals to lights?

I have LED's over my tank and I always put new corals on the bottom for at least a week. However, I wonder if most of you experts slowly raise them up in the tank over several weeks or if you just put them where you want them after the week or so at the bottom. I am mainly talking about SPS, but it could apply to others. The reason I ask is I really have no way to slowly raise the corals to where they will go. Also, the height they they will be moved to is only about 10" from the bottom at the highest point.

If you have LED lighting that can be adjusted, you can just put the coral where you want it, and turn the lighting down for a couple of weeks, and then slowly raise it back up.

If you have the lighting suspended, you can get the same effect by raising the lighting to reduce the light in the tank.

You will not hurt your existing corals.
