About protein skimmers

So i modded my 24g aquapod and attached a remora nano skimmer.
I really am just looking for general tips (maybe some specific to the remora) on break in period, what exactly should be in the collection cup and things like that.
What should i be watching for.

Right now its been running for a day probably about 25hrs and there is a thick white dry foam collecting in the top. Is that good? Bad?

Cant help specifics on that model but foam is good. you should get a nasty coffee looking liquid in the cup eventually. Some ajustment might be needed. Break in for most skimmers are a couple days.

What did you have to do to "mod" it?

I had to modify the tank.
its an aquapod 24g with an enclosed canopy.
So basically took an electric saw to it and hacked a square in the back right corner so it would close around the skimmer.
Its already showing a difference the water looks so much clearer and its only been a day.
So my skimmer plus 40lbs of live rock.
Hoping to get some really good water quality after a while.
