    Big Angel (not little)

I happily brought home a Lamaracks Angel yesterday, and I must of got confused because I thought I was going to be bringing home a dwarf angel for my 25 gal but when I double checked today I realized that no, the Lamaracks are full sized Angels. I was looking for a dwarf before I settled on him...

    why did my angel die?

ok thanks, that helps. I mean, it was eating fine, no external signs of disease or anything. The tank is about 7 months old.

    why did my angel die?

Today I came home to find my coral beauty dead. My coral banded shrimp was munching on him. Is it possible that the shrimp (he is rather large) killed my fish? My parameters seem fine, I just checked them, I have changed nothing. No signs of distress or disease was evident before. The only other...

Whats is happening to my LR?

Thanks for the replies, I'm not attempting a reef tank yet, but I'm using the LR as biological filtration mainly. I was just hoping that there would be a way to preserve the color that it starts off with. Its a fish only tank, 25 gallon.

Whats is happening to my LR?

I have about 7 pounds of LR in my 25 gal tank, with an additional 7 lbs of base rock. I'm planning to get much more in a little bit. The LR I already have has some spots that are turning white. When I bought it, it wasn't the best quality but it had some purple stuff on it. Is my LR dying? What...

    Hello, I'm a newcomer

Thanks for the relplies. I have already done some posting elsewhere on the site but havn't been back here. I'm 16 now and still in high school, and I have had the tank running about 1 1/2 months. I think my plan now is to use live rock as my main filtration as it is the cheapest for this size...

How do I calibrate a heater?

I have it now so that the light goes off when the tank reaches the desired temp, does that mean it is set now? Also, is 82 degrees a good temp for clowns? How about live rock? Mine too is a titanium heater with a control nob, but no thermostat. Those ones where like twice as much

How do I calibrate a heater?

My mom just turned off the AC in the house. I freaked out cuz I live in Florida and my tank temp shot up from like a comfortable 80 degrees to like an 82 degrees. I just have to clownfish, and the tank is fairly new. I figured I can't really cool down the tank so I might as well keep the temp...

    Hey there

Ok, I've been looking around at a bunch of stuff, and here is my plan. A good protein skimmer is just to expensive for me, I'm still in high school so I have a low budget, and I'm keeping to a fish only tank. My neighbors also have a similar setup and do fine, they have no skimmer but do have a...

    Hey there

I should be fine if I vaccum the bottom every water change, right? I know the UG isn't considered the best option, but I'm willing to work with it. It would be helpful if I could get some advice on how to use it to its full potential, as I am already using it. Mostly it is supplementing the...

    Hey there

Instead of a sand bed, I have crushed coral, and would it be better to try doing a reverse flow undergravel?

    Hey there

Thanks for all the replies. I think that I have enough oxygen in the water because the undergravel filter is run by two airstones powered by an appropriate air pump, and the outlet from the power filter creates lots of water movement. ---Sawyer

    Hey there

Hi are you all doing? I'm new to this hobby, but I'm reading as much as I can and just joined the forum. I've had my tank for about a month now. Its 25 gallon tall, with about 7 pounds of live rock and another 7 pounds of base rock, with an undergravel filter for extra bio filtration and an...

    Hello, I'm a newcomer

Hey all, I'm pretty much brand new to the sw hobby. I have a 25 gal tall tank which I cycled with a couple of damsels. I then gave away the damsels so I could keep a more peaceful tank. So far I have 2 common clownfish. ---Sawyer
