I recently bought my first tank - a Red Sea Reefer 250. It has been up and running for a little over 1 month now and the ammonia and Nitrite readings are finally 0, so I am ready to add my first fish!
I actually prefer the look of a closed top aquarium, but elected to go with the Open top Reefer over the C-series or E-series because I liked being able to customize everything. That being said, I still prefer a closed top.
Has anyone added a canopy to a Reefer tank?
My husband (who is a carpenter) has been giving me ideas on how I could add a canopy while still maintaining the seamless lines of the Reefer. Currently we are talking about having the sides of the canopy high enough to cover the lights and keep jumpers in and then having a top made of dark screen to still help with heat etc. I am hoping this would give me the feel of a closed top, but still some of the benefits of an open top.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!
