As typical, your LFS is out to make a fast buck. In my opinion, not only are the skimmer and pump out and out junk, but far too small for a 125 gal tank. Note that this skimmer is only rated for a 120 gal tank. Usually when you get a skimmer you want one that is rated for a tank that is double the size that you want to run it on. In your case, you want to be looking at skimmers rated for at least a 250 gal tank. (skimmer manufacturers tend to "very optimistic" when it comes to rating their product)
Now before going on to recommend anything, what is the filtration system currently in use? What is your current skimmer? What sort of fish do you plan to keep? (need not be an extensive list, just some idea)
You have a large tank, so you are going to need a system worthy of such a tank. Don't sell yourself short, and get something that is not up to the job and will need to be replced.
The bak pak is a "hang on back" skimmer, as opposed to an in sump skimmer.
So...Do you have a sump? Do you have to go with a hang on skimmer?
