This looks like a blue asterina starfish. Is there such a thing???
I have seen the white ones before but never a blue.
It also has a red area in the center.
It was probably 1/2" long.

I have had them in blue, pink, white and a mixture of colours. I'm not sure if it has to do with what they eat or if it is just part of their natural colouration.

There are lots of different Asterina species. They come in many colors. Some are reefsafe, even beneficial. Some are not reefsafe and will attack corals. The colorful ones are generally untrustworthy, although this is not a hard and fast rule.

hey, i have three of those starfish about the same size, but whitish, that crawled out of my live rock and tons of tiny (cm long?) blue ones. how do you tell if they're bad ones or not?
i've been picking the blue ones off of my rocks every time i see them. i figure even if they're not the evil ones i don't want a tank overrun by starfish.
