Lion Fish, definitely a dwarf species, and a ghost eel.

What kind of clean crew up is safe?

I was thinking some urchin and maybe an emerald crabs, any other ideas?

It will be a 55 gal, 20 gal sump/wet/dry, a corallife super skimmer, and a power filter from years back with phosphate remover, carbon, biopellets. And a chamber with mangrove and chaeto algea.

The lion will eat the crabs the first chance it gets, lol. The urchins should be ok, and snails and hermits should be fine, too.

I have a ghost eel and a dwarf lion fish and he currently lives with very small hermit crabs and also an emerald crab.

My lion fish doesn't care about any crabs in that tank what so ever. I don't see a problem unless you go buy tiny little emerald crabs maybe.

A lion will not eat the crabs. You can have anything besides shrimp for a CUC. I don't know anything about eels, so I can't comment on that part.

Crabs are okay because lions are not puffers. Don't use urchins because they might injure your fish.

I have 2 dwarf lions in my tank and they totally ignore the crabs.... shrimp on the other hand are gonners if I put them in.

i had a rather larger lion fish for a year or so and it never touched my crabs.
