Looks like Green Clove Polyps to me
Pretty, but can become invasive.

I could be mistaken so wait for other opinions
Or search on line for Clavularia sp.
I think there are several color variations if that is what it is.

I'm going with either a Montipora or perhaps even a Goniopora. How many tentacles does each polyp have?

Hi Frisbee, difficult to say as it's so tiny but it looks like 12 potentially?

Oh ok. Usually a Gonipora will have 24 tentacles while an Alveopora will have 12, just like that last picture that DianaKay posted above. That's an Alveopora. Here's a link regarding those two just for comparison.

Really interesting read, thanks Frisbee. Interesting that the placement and flow flies in the face of what was discussed - guess I got lucky , it is in the top third of the tank in some reasonably strong flow. Also it grew from virtually nothing so I guess it's my mission to keep it strong and happy!

Anyone out there have any views on more beneficial placement?

If it is growing w/o issues where it is currently located, then I wouldn't move it. If you see issues starting, then I'd consider moving it. If it ain't broke, then don't fix it.

I would say that if it has been steadily growing, it just happens to like where it is.
