yeah, the recent cold spell was just too much for the recently purchased 300w finnex, which has been fine for the past fall.
My previous heater was a finnex titanium 800w, but in my genius, I thought to replace it with something that might save me in energy costs. The 300w is good up to 100 gallons, under ideal, room-temperature conditions it should have been plenty for my tank. Ideal, being the key though. It's just been so cold here past couple of weeks. I'll have to get a bigger heater that can keep up but in the meantime I just threw an extra heater in the sump. I'm gonna miss that fish. So much personality. Some have it, some don't.
