yeah partial water changes with lower alk water (obviously).

I would think that the same rules apply to lowering alk as do to raising alk. No more than 1dkh in a day but if it were me, i'd lok to lower it by .5 DKH every 3-4 days until you get to your desired levels. This assume you have alk sensitive corals in your tank.

You would just need to do your calculation on your water volume.

I typically just let mine lower on its own. It seems to be slower than trying to lower it. What is the alk of your freshly made saltwater? If it is high, it may be tough to lower it due to water changes raising it. Just something to think about.

I will check the dkH of my freshly mixed salt water after I mix it for my next water change.

Yes, I will go the "let it lower on its own" route for the most part.
