looks like a mushroom.... 2 stay the same size but the tulip looking thing in the middle extends / shrinks at times... and is it an ok thing to have or do we need to get rid of it?

Trying to find out what this is and do we keep it or is it a bad thing or something..... It shrinks and expands and looks like a "tulip" so to speak..... there are 2 mushroomish things near the main thing also... thanks in advance
