Skimmer adjustment question

Hello, I clean out my skimmer cup weekly. There is usually a thick brown buildup on the inside of the neck. Do You think I'm running it too dry?

I think scum will just accumulate as mine does the same thing.
I empty the liquid skim as needed and clean scum weekly.
Be thankful that it's being removed from your system.

Adjustments can be made. Either by moving the water level up or down, or by moving the air up or down. I do not know in the long run what difference it will make other than the fact that the wetter it is the more often you will have to empty the cup. I have heard arguments that thinner removes faster or that thicker removes better, but I have not seen any evidence that proves these theories.

Thanks for the Op's, never was sure if I was getting the best out of the skimmer. No overall change,whether I run it wet or dry.

You can adjust the skimmer, but that can easily lead to the skimmer cup overflowing. I think you have it adjusted about right currently.

What I do is clean the skimmer collection cup and them clean the neck of the skimmer using a baby bottle brush. Put it back together and your all set.
