These cute little fellas can be found on many of the islands in the indo-pacific region.
Fortunately, they're terresterial crabs, (land hermits) so we don't have to deal with them in the aquarium...

Yikes! I'm glad I only have racoons trying to get into the cans here... that is a character straight out of sci-fi B movies. :bluemad:

We had to deal with these things daily when I lived on Guam. They climb the palm trees & tear whole coconuts apart. However, we called these Robber Crabs back on the island. These bastards get into everything, as you can see by this photo.

those coconut crabs, those are the ones fabled for killing sailors stranded on tropical islands.

when theyd sleep, those would treat their heads like a coconut.

i think its a myth. but i dont see myself camping in Guam

They give me the heebie-jeebies whether or not they treat heads like coconuts!
