45 Gallon Hex

We are working on our seahorse tank. Considering a 45 gall tall hex tank. It is plumbed and will have a fuge. My main question is what size return pump will work? It needs to be enough to get the water in the tank, but low enough flow for the ponies. What does everyone here use?

I am not really good with equipment but if I were you I would make a spray bar. That way you have no dead spots and even out the flow through several areas.

The pump will depend on what your overflow is rated for and the head loss.
I don't know how to do the calculations but I know those two things are key.

What are you running on your seahorse tanks? Skimmer? Filter? Etc.

Want to do an equipment check before we get too much further.

we would have to have a tiny skimmer as there is very little room underneath. Maybe a skilter?? Any ideas? Figure we would be doing lots of water changes too.

i would use a maxijet 900 pump, i use it as my return from my turf scrubber and it doesn't even blow my xenia around in the current.

just take off the air intake piece and get a 1/2'' tube for the return hose and thats its...

hope things work out for you.
