Why would you want a wet/dry?
I am much happier with my LR and skimmer than I ever was with a wet dry. I think I have 2 in my garage along with buckets of bio-balls.

not using it for a wet/dry function, pretty much as a sump with live rock rubble and a place to hide the skimmer

Then just get an empty tank and put baffles in for your own sump. A lot cheaper plus you can make it to your own dimensions.

another idiot question. the power hasnt gone out for me in about 10 years but if it does, wouldnt the wet/dry overflow? is there any way to stop the overflow from pulling in water if the power goes out?

EDIT- NVM. found a site with the answer
