Transitioning from CC to BB

I have a Crushed Coral substrate and absolutely hate it (didn't know any better at first)... it constantly grows GHA and it is chock full of nutrients. I am considering going BareBottom to just be done with it. My plan is to take out around 1/4 at a time over the next 4 weeks.

Optimally I would like to change over to reef sand (black :p) but I feel like I would cause a sandstorm which would result in either a crash or the death of my fish and many corals.

Also I have a few acans and a large brain shaped favite that I know should be on substrate... will going BB harm them?

Any thoughts advice?

I have had those kind of thoughts before but then backed away from going bb. I really like the sand critters and the natural look of the tank best. My sand is carib sea floor spc so it is not too large or pieces but still I decided to start using a siphon tube and clean the sand maybe a fourth tank at the time. After I started doing this I like my sand a lots better. Good luck which ever you go.
