is it best to leave this to the Fuge? why or wht not?
it looks attractive in the tank but grows at an alarming rate of about 1" per day, I need to cull it regularly.

My vote is remove completely from the system and use chaetomopha instead ! Once caleurpa gets a foothold in the tank it'll be very difficult to remove it and it has the tendency to go "sexual" if not pruned regularly or 24/7 light cycle.

FYI, none of my tangs even like that type of caluerpa... It seems to grow slower than the other varieties as well, and like Robert said, once it gets a foothold in the live rock, it's nearly impossible to get rid of as it starts growing through the bases of your stony corals...
