How does one go about ordering the right amount of sand? i have a 90G (48"x18") base to work with and i plan on getting something like this CaribSea Seaflor Fiji Pink Reef Sand 15 lb
I want roughly a 4" DSB but dont know how to calculate how many LBS i need to order.

That's around 12 bags, 180 pounds

Inland Reef came up with a sand calculator - program you plug in tank size and depth of sand bed, and gives the weight of several brands of sand. It is 178 pounds for Fiji Pink in a 90 for a 4" depth.

Their website is no longer active, so I can't give you the URL to the app, and I can't post an app here on RS. It is very handy - it is a small .exe file

Fiji pink is pretty fine, isn't it? I wish I had gone with their Special Grade in my 180 like I did in my 70. The fine stuff blows too easily. Just something to consider.
