Simple noob question. Is this filter ok for 20 long QT. Tropical Aquarium Filters & Filtration: Marineland Emperor BIO-Wheel Powerfilters

I was told to use a simple sponge filter for these tanks...there is a link somewhere around here with instructions on how to make a proper QT. Give me a second.

Im pretty sure thats more along the lines of what you are looking for. I know you can just use a sponge, seed it with some of the bacteria, and then use it in the QT without a problem.
