Hi Dean! We caught our mantis with the bottle trap. We used a mashed piece of deli shrimp as bait. The mantis checked out the trap for 8 hours, finally going in. As soon as the mantis went in we quickly removed the trap so that he couldn't escape back into the tank. They are smart animals and it won't take long for it to figure out how to escape.

Any prawn goby will work. I would suggest putting them in a clear plastic container with small holes drilled in it. Add some sand and rubble and let the two of them 'partner' up before letting them out. It's also a good idea to start a hole near the place you would like for them to be in the tank. It doesn't always work but it did work for me and my yasha/tiger pair.

I let my goby make a hole. Then I bought a pistol and put it in a clear baby food jar. I released it into the bogy's hole and it was love at first sight. They should pair up upon seeing each other immediately
