It looks like a flower of sorts and I have yanked out many already, as they are growing better than my new leathers... thought that this might be a hint that it isn't good. any thoughts?

That algae is Padina sp. Here is a link to a picture of one species: Padina boryana. You can also do a google search to see other varieties. Another nuisance algae to make us nuts. Although some may like the way it scrolls.

I thought it was bad, and I guess I was right. I probably should just tear it out then, otherwise it will just continue to spread right?
