New Corals, questions about one of them.

I just got back from the store and got some kenya trees, zoos, GSPs, a leather and this green florescent hammer coral. The owner at the store said to start with it at the bottom of the tank, however research told me they need moderate to heavy lighting and I only have T5s. Just wondering where ideal placement would be.

I've seen euphillias (hammers, torches, bubbles, etc.) in all different lighting conditions. I'd say don't blast it with a power head, but rather a gentle current spot is what you are looking for. try to avoid moving it all over the place, give it a spot and leave it alone. If in a month or so you don't like the way it looks, try a new spot.

Can anyone ID the dark growth across from my thumb? It's like a dark redish color with tentacle type things. Sorry for a lack of terminology there.

Edit: In the five minutes it's been in the tank it seemed to have opened up, here's a better pic:
