Needle wheel skimmer pump. Air intake WHERE?

Ive got a resun king3 protein skimmer pump with needle-wheel. It came with air-intake adapters for both water-intake and outlet. Where do I put the air intake tube? Looking at the skimmer below in this figure of a NEEDLE WHEEL skimmer they put the air intake after the pump.

.

But many needle wheel skimmers have the air-intake before the needle wheel....

Im confused!

I know that a fast-rotating object in water can cause small bubbles to be created because of the pressure-drop so It actually makes sense to put the air-intake after the needle wheel. But you can find arguments for putting it before the wheel aswell so that the air gets mixed up....

HELP!

it does typically go on the intake end of the pump, never seen one configured like in that pic...the impeller chops up the bubble and make them smaller

Just compared the resun with the aquabee... Much fewer bubbles with resun.. Perhaps because the aquabee has normal impeller
