I found this fuzzy-looking stuff on my gonio. What is it?

The pic is so blue, really can't make it out. Maybe turn the lights off and take a pic with a flash? What color is it? Can you give us a description besides fuzzy looking stuff?

Some sort of sponge would be my guess. (usually harmless)

Hard to tell from the picture, but it looks like it's on a maricultured plug. Sometimes those have threads sticking out of them and when the ends fray they look like that. If it's pretty much impossible to pull off the rock, I'd say it's one of those imbedded threads. All you can do is cut it off as short as possible.

Does it have a bunch of thread like tubes coming out of the base? If it does and it has feathery tops, it could be hydroids.
