I am taking my tank braces out !!!!

Well as i consider safety factor is very important .
Tank dimension is 170cm L x 55cm D x 75cm Hight( 12mm thickens ) temperd glass
i had this braces 2 years old when i built the tank
its 15 cm wide and its 10mm thickens ,
what will happen if i take them out ???????????
also they are hiding the light 40% in some corners .
please i need all exports thoughts ( i do have a child )

There is a real good chance the tank will spread and burst if you remove the braces.

I wouldn't recommend doing it.

I agree, the braces are there for a reason. if you remove them your tank is likely to crack. I've had a few people try to return tanks to my store after romoving the braces. They all eventually crack! Don't do it!

I don't think you really should touch them! They were put in for a reason and as Eric explained if the pressure is right the tank will fall apart!

Removing them now after a few years of when it was built would be a bad idea. The silicone has fully cured and is use to the strains it has had for to long to remove them now. The tank is "broken in"
The bummer part in all this is, when the tank was first made, if they left those braces out the tank would have been fine.
In order to remove them now you would have to empty the tank, remove all the bracing and install just a euro brace around the rim. But it would need to be redone fully so the silicone can cure properly.
