How Often to Replace Light Bulbs?

My light bulbs are over a year old. I haven't noticed any problems with the bulbs. All the corals still seem to be thriving and growing, as well as my anemones.

How long should I wait to replace my Metal Halide bulbs?

How long should I wait to replace my power compact bulbs?

Bulbs usually start changing their color spectrum at about 9 months to 1 year. It's recommended to change at this time.

If you search, this issue has been addressed quite a bit.

PC definately 1 year like clockwork if used at at least 8hrs a day.

You wont notice anything visually wrong, until you finally decide to put in a fresh set of bulbs and have an algae bloom.

Thanks for the info on the PC. I guess I have noticed alittle bit of a color change in the bulb from a purple to a pink color.

How long should I wait until I replace the metal halide?
Also, where is some literature on bulb replacement? I've read the sticky about light bulbs. But haven't seen much detail on when and why to replace your bulbs.

Thanks in advance.

You all are some dedicated reefers, with changing the Halides every 6-8 months. Those are some expensive bulbs!!!

Is there any literature links you all could point me in so I could learn more about this?

Thanks for all the replies.
