Hard Coral Plunge

Took the plunge with Hard Coral last night and bought a Brain Coral and Goniopora. Despite owning two marine tanks in the past I've previously not had the confidence in my lighting to risk venturing with this type of coral before.

Any tips on ensuring their long term happiness are welcomed.

Thanks

Congratulations! The brain coral is relatively easy and should do well. Place it on the bottom of the tank and it should flourish. The Goniopora can be a difficult coral to maintain, especially the green ones. I have a red one that has done well in my tank for over a year. You must have very good water quality, give it room as it will extend out far beyond its base and it can sting other corals. As they grow, keep an eye on Ca and Alk as they will consume Ca to grow.

Thanks for the advice. Will move the Brain Coral lower tomorrow its a beautiful pink, green and white one. Goniopora is a stunning flourescent green colour. Fed it ground cubed-dry-brine shrimp ground with invert liquid food tonight and it seems to be flourishing. Only day 2 though...

Will measure CA tomorrow and get a Alkalinity tester over the weekend.
