You never know what you might run across while hiking or even buried in your own backyard. These are a couple of gastropod fossils we collected many years ago from a streambed in the central-Texas area. They've been used as paperweights since so in effect they still help keep the place clean
From the little research I've done they're probably no less than 65 million years old. They're fairly common but usually not this large. Anyway, next time your out on a hike or out flyfishing maybe keep your eyes open and you never know what you might find.
