Just looking for the pros and cons of housing this species. The LFS tells me they are not compatible with hermit crabs.

Anybody have any experience with these?

They aren't compatible with aquariums in general :)
One of those critters best left in the ocean. They have a tendancy to starve to death in our tanks.

If you put enough food into your water column to support them you run the risk of OVER feeding the tank and totally polluting it! Trust me.... that's experience speaking!! They look cool but they don't survive long term and in fact I think our LFS quit carrying them all together!

Damn, they are SOOOOO cool looking. my LFS always has them. They suggest to me as well that they are difficult to care for, they keep them in the "prohibited" section with the seahorses.

They told me that they do require direct feeding. Just one of thoe things, (like a cow fish) that I really want and probably shouldn't have.

If you set-up a dedicated tank, just for this species, you would have more success. In a community reef, it's too big of a hassle and not a good environment for this species.
