ok guys I have a few photos to add i have had the tank set up now for a month and a half now and it is progressing nicely. Here are a few quick pictures I snapped. I can already notice some growth in my lps corals.

Ok guys I have a small problem. I tested my tank this evening and everything came out fine except the nitrates rose to about .20ppm I know this is still not really that high but I think this might be the reason for getting a small outbreak of hair algae. I just placed an order to strengthen my cuc to get rid of the algae, but I'm still a little bit worried about the nitrate levels, when the clean up crew starts to take out the algae will the nitrate go down?

I change 10% water weekly and I have and ro/di unit that I use so I don't think its the water quality but Im not sure?? any info would be great.

The algae actually is feeding & using up the nitrates (bringing them down) ... on a new tank I would guess the nitrates are coming from decay - feeding the tank, die off, livestock waste, etc... and water changes should bring them down.

Nitrate (NO3) reduction is directly proportional to percentage of Water Change

Thanks Glenn that is a great help! I figured this was normal, but I am still going to add a little to my cuc.

You are very welcome - cuc are bio-positive (where fish add bio-load) if your tank has cycled, adding to your cuc can only be a good thing :dance:

in my RSM 250 I have around a 100 snails and a cleaner shrimp :) and near algae free :dance:
