carbon in the skimmer?

I was just changing out my carbon bag and thought why don't i put this bag in my skimmer it probably has the most flow in my whole tank. and now I'm on here seeing if anyone else has done this or if this is a big no-no.

Think about it! If in the skimmer it will block flow to the cup, carbon works best when the water has to flow thru it, like in a reactor, with a pump bushing it thru it, in bags it is just passive, water is not being forced thru it.

i have a nano so my DIY skimmer is run by an airpump and airstone so as the air rises it brings along water which pushes the carbon bag up but the weight of the carbon allows it to not get stuck in the cup. im sure the surrounding bag does stop some flow but im sure water still has a chance to get through.

if i were to create a stationary layer of carbon that could be placed at the lower half of my skimmer and allows the micro bubbles to pass. would this be a better method of getting the most flow to my carbon?
