Canon 40d macro shot help

Hey RS, I have the Canon 40D with the Canon 28-135mm lens.

Now I've been trying to get a good macro shot and this lens seems to not be cutting it...It just doesn't zoom enough to get a really close shot and the min focus distance is still around 20 in....is there anything that I can do to get a good macro shot? any setting that may make it easier?

I do have PS CS3 and Lightroom 2.5

If not I'm gonna buy the tameron 18-270mm lens....good deal for $500 Hopefully it works well for this,,,but either way I want it

Any info/advise would be great, I haven't been in the hobby for too long so I'm still learning my camera

Any canon users running a good lens I should look into?

thanks,

Hi DigitalLegacy! If you put an extension tube between the body and lens it will get you in real close on your subject! So, this post is over a month old, any of your photos for us to look at?

Hi Jeff! We just took another look at your photos, they are very nice and done with the 100mm macro? We need to save up for one of those! We have been using the 18 - 55 kit lens with a 12mm extension tube, but it would be nice to just shoot away in full auto with a good primary lens!
