here is something that has been growing over a few months and is only about an eighth of an inch around. reminds me of a feather duster but with really pretty red "gills?" there are tons of these little suckers around my tasnks and on the snail's shells. hitchhiker, yes- but definitely worth keeping i hope.

It could also be spirorbidae, a very small calcified feather duster that usualy builds it's tube in a spriral shape.

They are filter feeders and will help keep the water polished for you. Nothing to worry about if that's what it is. The usually multiply rapidly in areas of good water flow and the undersides of live rock.
