"Stickies" listing and many helpful RSM threads!

I thought I'd try this as another option that can be undone if needed. For now I'll leave the stickies as is, but we could always "unsticky" them and move them here, to free up space on page one.

Any new threads worthy of being placed in here could be added. I think it best that all of this type thead be placed in a single post, and just added by me or Glenn. That avoids having to scroll through a "post per sticky".

This approach has advantages as well as disadvantages, and I have mixed feelings on it.

I think it's best to leave the "Welcome to " and "Ask Red Sea" threads easily visible, rather than hidden in here.

If we adopt this approach, this post will eventually be closed - so that comments/questions are placed in the appropriate "ex-Sticky" thread listed below. BUT, I'll leave it open for now, and wait till the holidays are over and people given a chance to return and comment.

So are you saying one sticky to put all the other stickies? In all hoensty, I don't have an opinion one way or the other on the stickies. I don't use them much. :) If I'm being honest. LOL

Thanks Glenn!

Tammy - yes - move all the stickied threads into the #1 post in this thread, (except the 2 that I mentioned), then unstick them so they don't take up space in the RSM thread listings. Thank for the feedback!

Balancing a sandwhich here - being a one finger typist has advantages LOL!

Sounds like a good idea. I like the stickies and do refer to them every now and again but they are adding up. It would be a shame if you lost useful information within a thread, if you could keep the first post of the above suggested sticky open to yourself and Glenn you could build on the links that you've listed above, a bit like an index and the link could take you to the sticky or thread your interested in. Navigation of threads and searching for stuff can be a nightmare on any forum. got to go hope this makes sense.

Thanks for the feedback Steve. I'll give it a while to hear from others. If we go this way, It could always be undone without much effort.

Great idea Terry. I have to agree with Steve on it would be nice to have them all in one place, nice and clean in order.

OK - I removed most of the stickies and there are now links to the formers stickies in Post #1 of this thread. I left the Welcome and Ask Red Sea threads stickied.

One or all can be easily reinstated as stickies, if we get a lot of negative feedback on this change.

I also like it. It clears up the front page a lot.

Thanks for all the feedback. It does enable more posts being seen on a page, which is the real benefit of it. Like any changes there will be some disadvantages, but overall I think it's good!

Overall Terry its a good idea having them all in one thread just opening them in different windows is the major disadvantage for me anyway but like anything i'll soon get use to it keep up the good work

Yep - the disadvantage is that it takes another click or two to get to them.

Great Change for the forum. The stickies were occupying a lot of space and now it has become easier to look for answers. really like it

I like it, it's more organised and easier viewing on the front page.
