What protein skimmer are you running and what made you pick that particular unit.

i-Tech 400, made locally, built like a tank, thicknesses twice (or more) of other skimmers, works great, set and forget, can skim nice and dry.

Tunze 9006 bought it because space was limited and it had a very small footprint. Going forward I wouldn't buy it again.

I have an AquaC Urchin. The price was good and it fit my sump nicely. I've had very few problems with it. Good little skimmer.

AquaC. Great skimmer very few problems. If water changes n gets too high it quits skimming tho. Bought it off Craigslist. Came with another tank set up.

Super Reef Octopus XP-8000

Efficiency, volume capacity and price, there are few skimmers that can treat 1,000+ gallons with such a low price tag.

Here is a quick pick when I changed it with my former XP-5000

I chose an SWC Extreme Cone Mini S, for built quality, performance and price. Overall I've been very happy with the skimmer. The only real complaint would be that it's not a true seamless cone, there's a small transition where the cone meets the neck. However, the skimmer works fantastic and I've been happy with the results.
