I just got a Nikon D80 and it's way over my head. Any tips or settings you guys can recommend for me to play around with?

I will be taking some classes the camera store offers coming up but I want some good pics NOW :yup:

Invest in a good tripod.

Shoot in aperture priority around f8-f11 for good depth of field.

Shoot with flash on TTL.

Set the white balance to floresent.

Adjust your aperture if too dark, but with the flash, you should have no problems. If your photos are blurry, try to hold the camera still.

That will get you started. Nice camera! Have fun! :)

Put it in Program Mode and make it a point and shoot... :) I don't have a D80, but this was available in my D100 and D2H and that's what I do when I give it to someone to play with...

if you dont have a tripod-
-put the camera against the glass to steady it.
-shoot with a quicker exposure and use a bright light to light your object.
-get a tripod :)

I have the D80 too! For point and shoot pictures, set the camera dial to "Auto" and the lens on A=(automatic). Point, press the shutter button down half way until it focuses and then press shutter button all the way down. :D
