He said that 700 - 800, sometimes a thousand, people per year step on one on the east coast of Australia. Ouch. I guess they will poke right through a thin shoe.

There's always a few of us that step on them and from a young age, you're always warned about stonefish! Needless to say a lot of beach and rockpool time was spent actually trying to find one along with blue-rings by inquisitive me haha never had much luck though! Probably a good thing though
