Picture is pretty blurry but that looks more like a Corallimorph than a true anemone.Look up Rhodactis sanctaethomasi(sic).

what attributes make it a mushroom? Would it be a bad idea to try and feed it mysis to find out if it is a mushroom or anemone or will it be impossible to tell?

I would also say mushroom and since it has tentacles it will most likely take bits of food and shrimp.

ok i'm convinced that it is a mushroom. I have read that some clownfish will except mushrooms as a host, is this just a myth or is it true? I am asking because i have a well established cinnamon clown in the same tank.

Clowns will host most anything. Shrooms also eat so there is no problem with feeding it. They kind of close up and trap the food. It is pretty cool to watch them eat.
