Hello, I am "renovating/reviving" a 37 gallon Oceanic mini reef with a HOT refugium/skimmer. My 4 year daughter now requires less maintenance and is demanding fish in the aquarium that sits out side her room.
What I have done so far:
3 RODI 20% water changes in 10 days
Vacuumed detritus from refugium floor
Purchased and installed a pair of Jebao RW-8's
Canabalized parts to make a fresh mazijet 900 for refugium/skimmer input
Replaced comoact flourecent huge light with an 8w 6.5k LED
Purchased a Reef Radiance DM 165p+
Added some Chaeto and tiggers to refugium
...and of course I had to add a "Nemo" clown for my daughter
Any and all tips, pointers and recommendations are requested and encouraged. I am not new to the reef thing, but I have been busy with work and a new wife and daughter for the last 7 years, so I am sure much has changed....for instance, LEDs and quality wave makers seem to be big game changers...
I'd love to end up with a stable little reef set up with a LPS, polyps and lots of color...
