I've heard they will get a slime and shed off a layer sometimes. Mine has never done that. Maybe it is just a bad one. Did you get any photos?

Leathers sometimes shed their outer "coating,"(for lack of a better word) and it slimes off. They need some mediumish flow to blow it off.

You got it Grant. This is how they rid themselves of debris and algae that tried to grow on them. Good flow is essential for them.

I think that running carbon is a good idea if you are keeping softies because many of them use chemical warfare. Might also help with the droopy leather.

Buy a phosban reactor and run carbon in it. They are really inexpensive. I run Matrix (a form of carbon) in one of mine.
