A few more gems
Isn't it a contradiction with the available resources applied to archieve this?

The tank is literally build as a freshwater tank with 5 glass plates and nothing else.

Dimensions: 116x40x44cm

Technique: powerfilter 1200l/h, self build surface skimmer, SLW20 flowpump, 4x 27 watt JMB ledstrips (prototypes), 6 channel dosingpump of which 5 channels are used for EZbuffer, EZ2Go, NO3+, PO4+, Osmosis water.

Sustainable reefing couldn't be any simpler.
... at least for me (yet).
Is it the reefer, the products, the equipment, the endurance, patience or is it just the perfect joining of knowledge and dumb luck. Who cares... the results are there to enjoy.

Photo update:

Even a kh swing down to 2,4dhk could not bring down this tank. (Kh channel did not dose for at least 2 weeks)

When the alk dosage stops and the kh drops, the calcium is no longer used. So Calcium was increased to 680ppm. The corals didn't budge

The Magnesium also rise up to 1620ppm because of the low alk.
But it didn't bother any of these corals

Corals look great Glenn! Sorry to hear about the Alk but as you point out, doesn’t seem to have had an issue

Thanks. The point is that corals seems to be more resilient than many reefers assume. So i share my own experiences to raise awareness about this.

The alk was raised with KH+ from 2,4 to 9dkh within 24 hours without an ill effect on the lifestock.

According to my calcultations it will take at least 11 days for calcium to fall back from 680ppm to 440ppm. Jun 1, is the due date to measure.

No water changes since 2015. No expensive equipment. Only 2 part dosing method and yet a nice result.
