LET ME INTRODUCE SOME OF MY TANK GANG HERE AT WET PETS HAWAII. OUR HAPPY FINNED FRIENDS INCLUDE:

"DITTY" AKA (PUFFY) OUR PORCUPINE PUFFERFISH WHO HAS COME A LONG WAY

FOUND STUCK IN A PIPE OVER A YEAR AGO....HALF HIS BODY INFLATED BECAUSE THE OTHER HALF(THAT WAS IN THE PIPE) COULD NOT INFLATE
WE HAD TO CUT THE PIPE TO GET HIM OUT!!! 4 WEEKS IN A HOSPITAL TANK AND THE FIRST TWO OF THAT FOUR WEEKS THIS PUFFERFISH COULD NOT DEFLATE THE BACK HALF OF HIS BODY....WE LITTERALLY HAD TO BUILD A ROCK CAVE ALL AROUND HIM SO HE WOULD NOT FLOAT TO THE TOP!!! FORCE FED WITH A STICK WITH LITTLE PIECES OF SHRIMP SOAKED IN BETA GLUCAN AND VITA CHEM AND SHOVED IN HIS MOUTH...(YES YOU CAN FORCE FEED A FISH) HE EMERGED FROM HIS CAVE THE THIRD WEEK AND SPENT TWO WEEKS IN HEAVY ANTIBIOTICS....INTRODUCING "DITTY' ONE YEAR LATER!!! WE LOVE YOU!!!

OH "DITTY" WAS THE ONE THAT MISTAKENLY BIT MY PINKY FINGER BECAUSE HE THOUGHT IT WAS FOOD!!! OUCH!!! LOL!!!

NEXT WE HAVE "LUCKY" OUR DEUSIMMER TANG, YES THERE IS A REASON WHY HE IS CALLED LUCKY BECAUSE WELL HE IS LUCKY TO BE ALIVE.....I FOUND HIM FLOPPING AROUND IN A TRASH CAN AT THE BEACH WITH A THREE PRONG SPEAR HOLE IN HIS BODY.... I DUG HIM OUT OF THE TRASH(EWWWW)AND TOK HIM HOME...HE WAS PUT IN HEAVILY OXYGENATED WATER AND ANTIBIOTICS....AND OVER A TWO WEEK PERIOD THE SALINITY WAS GRADUALLY DROPPED FROM .026 ALL THE WAY DOWN TO .009 AND KEPT HIM THERE FOR A 6 WEEKS AND THEN I SPENT ANOTHER WEEK (7TH WEEK)BRINGING THE SALINITY BACK UP TO .026......INTODUCING LUCKY....WHO IS NOW NOT AFRAID OF MY HAND!!! WE LOVE YOU!!!

AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST "BUDDY" OUR (TRANSITIONING) IMPERATOR ANGELFISH WHO WAS GIVEN TO ME ABOUT 6 MONTHS AGO HEAVILY COVERED WITH PARASITES AND LOOKING HOPELESS.... I BUILT TWO CONNECTING 10 GALLON TANKS
WITH A BALL VALVE IN BETWEEN ONE FILLED WITH FRESHWATER AND ONE WITH SALTWATER THATS BEEN GRADUALLY REDUCED TO .10. EVERY DAY I WOULD TURN THE BALL VALVE ON AND FLOOD THE TANK HE WAS SWIMMING IN WITH THE FRESHWATER FROM THE CONNECTING TANK... THEN CLOSED THE BALL VALVE AND REPLACED ONE SIDE WITH PREMIXED (.10 SALINITY) INSTANT OCEAN WATER AND HEAVY DOSES OF NOV AQUA TO REPLACE THE SLIME COAT THE FRESHWATER STRIPS OFF HIS BODY WITH THE PARASITES... THE OTHER SIDE KEPT GETTING REFILLED WITH FRESHWATER...TWO WEEKS OF TREATMENT WITH THIS METHOD THEN ONE WEEK IN A 5 GALLON BUCKET(50% WATER CHANGED DAILY) WITH A WIDE SPECTRUM ANTIBIOTIC.....INTRODUCING OUR "BUDDY" WE LOVE YOU

What incredible stories. Thank you for rescuing our fishie friends. Not many people who would do what you did or have the knowledge to be successful.

I'm with Lynn, not many folks would have know how to rescue those guys. I know I wouldn't. Thank you for sharing those stories! It's amazing how much a fish can withstand and be able to bounce back from it with proper care and love.
