Thumbs down Just Phish

Ok so I got a new skimmer and not from Just Phish, here's the story. About 2 maybe 3 weeks ago I place an order with just phish for the AE tech ETSS 1000. I get a confirming email back with an invoice. So far so good. I placed the order on a saturday so I give it till tuesday before I follow up. I shoot off an email and get a reply, " I'll look thru my fax's and see what I have and get back to you". Now mama didn't raise the best lookin kids in the hood but none of us are stupid and I know a blow off when I see it. Still maybe the guys busy working from home whatever, so I give him/her? another 24 hours and shoot off another email wait 24 hours no reply.

Now I do two things, I shoot a note to the people at AE tech asking them if they have my order and then I call the CC company to see if he put the charge thru. Charge went thru and AE tech has no order from him as a matter of fact they never heard of Just Phish. So now the CC company calls our friend at JP and gets no answer. So they send me some forms and I fill them out and get my money back no big deal, I also stop the card Like I said we aint stoopid!

Now I'm PO'd. Hmmmmmm what to do.... I know I'll complain! Complaint Dept! Ya see internet fraud is just as bad as mail fraud and our friends at the FBI really frown on that.

So we'll see what shakes out, I'm debating if I want to feed him to the lawyers, I got a cousin who oddly enough is a lawyer. I'll chat with him over the weekend . I learned my lesson no more buying from guys I don't know or who don't come recommended.

Now the good news. While this was goin on I hooked up with Gary at AE Tech the guy got me my stuff the next day gave me some advice and tossed in some plumbing and renewd my faith in humanity. Great guy and the skimmer is humming away.

I ordered livestock from Just Phish- it arrived healthy but both items were a substitute and not the ones I picked out

Thumbs down Re: Just Phish

I just wanted to post my similar bad experience with this company. Here is a rundown of what happened.

I ordered some drygoods and some livestock from justfish.com. After using their automated checkout/payment procedure on the website I was billed around $120 including the shipping. I promptly paid with paypal.

Two days later I recieved an email from justphish.com stating that one of my items was out of stock. They said that they would be happy to ship out the rest of the order and ship out the out of stock items later. I would be charged shipping on both.

The email also stated that since I ordered livestock from the site that I was to pay them an additional $40 before he would ship my order. Keep in mind this is an additional 200% shipping after already paying for shipping.

At this point I said "please cancel my order and refund my money or I will open a dispute with paypal." This is when the company started sending rude emails actually calling me "stupid, a liar, and a thief." I have attached one of the emails for you to view.

Avoid justphish.com at all costs!

OK I will quickly respond to the first post even though it's years ago. As far as the skimmer goes, I do not charge cards until I have a tracking number to show for the order. Apparently this is a well known fact as I get an order every two weeks or so that I ship and turns out the funds are not available and I don't ever hear from the "customer" again. I choose to manually run cards. I do not allow a processing gateway to do it for me.

Second, I don't order from AE Tech directly as I don't order from many manufacturers directly. Why? Because rarely does a manufacturer want to spend their precious time dealing with an account that doesn't qualify as high volume. To deter these accounts from buying direct they raise their prices. Just like a contractor bids high for a job he'd rather not do so that if it's accepted, at least they will be compensated nicely for having to do the work. Instead I order from a wholesaler who buys in volume therefor their prices are better than the manufacturers. This particular item happened to be a special order. My supplier orders it from the manuf and they ship directly.

Now, mudplayerX. As I find often happens with people who are complaining and on shakey ground is they omit key factors in order to bolster their story and gain support. Mud placed his order on 5Oct08 at 0347. That's AM on a Sunday. I emailed mud on 6Oct08 at 1317. Please look at this post time. The same day I emailed him, one day after he placed his order. I told mud that one of his three drygoods was out of stock, I told him if he wanted he could either wait for the item to come back and ship it, leave it off altogether, or have what was in shipped now and I'd ship the other later. Never did I say anything about charging him shipping twice for the out of stock drygood. I have never whacked anyone for shipping an out of stock item. I've ALWAYS eaten this cost as a courtesy for the customer for the trouble. I then told mud that as the site clearly states, and he acknowledged he read and understood, livestock was shipped overnight priority only at a cost of $35 plus 10% of the order subtotal. I asked mud what he wanted to do. The difference in shipping was not 200%. It was 100%. You paid $20 through paypal and the shipping should have been $40.

Mud has "forgotten" to tell you that he was given the option upon checkout to pay for overnight shipping. Apparently he didn't like the price as he decided he would ship ground. Now if you look at mud's habits on other boards he somewhat of a self proclaimed expert. Writing articles and boasting about how he is so good at growing corals if someone doesn't buy them from him he has to throw them in the trash. You'd think that someone of this calibur would know that corals need to be shipped overnight. You'll also notice with a search that complaining about vendors seems to be a pastime for him.

Mud wrote me an email back stating that he wanted his order canceled and he wanted to be refunded. I did not respond with "stupid", "liar" or "thief" but instead by saying I had no problem doing that, I will get right on it as soon as I get in. Twenty minutes later mud filed a non receipt complaint with Paypal. In it he told paypal that he had placed his order and I had "told him his order was out of stock. However if he paid my $40 fee, I could ship his order out immediately", effectively accusing me of extortion.

Mud then wrote me and said something to the effect that he would not rest until he blasted me everywhere for the world to see, etc etc. I had agreed to his refund, yet he went and lied to paypal about what happened, as he lied here. I gave him his refund, and he still went on to post on any board he could find half truths and exaggerated claims. After several more emails and a tipping of the hand it turns out this was nothing more than a shakedown against my business.

Had I shipped mud his corals ground as he wanted me to do I would still be on this board trying to defend against a ranting person because they got dead corals. There was absolutely no way to win this one with this person. You just can't please some people. All I can do if watch for his posts and defend myself. And also, mud as shown here you did not tell the truth. You also tried to strongarm me to give you something you didn't pay for and went nuts when you realized I would not bow to your demands. You know what they say. Walks like a duck, looks like a duck, must be a...duck.

Well, his name is "Mud",... at least he had the forethought to put it in his screen name. I feel your pain Phish, being a business owner & having to deal with "these kinds" of people.

Well for the most part people are very nice. And I certainly make mistakes and I have to pay for them. If I messed someone up I certainly understand if they want to vent about it but what happens is sometimes people know they were in the wrong but they also know they won't get as many villagers with pitch forks unless they play it up a little. After going back and forth several times it came to light that he knew what he was doing, but because he selected ground he felt I had to ship it priority. And as far as the card charging goes. I gotta get out of that habit. It drives my wife absolutely nuts when I run cards late at night and then she hears me sigh when another one doesn't go through and we got screwed. LOL.

The problem I have is with boards. Not the boards themselves but just that they make it very easy for kinda blackmailing. How many vendors have to cave to customers with unreasonable demands because they are afraid the customer will post on the boards. And I find when there's a problem customer it always results in one or more of the following avenues. 1) My wife/grandpa/dog sitter/crossing guard etc is a lawyer and I'm going to sue you into oblivion. 2) I spend $10,000 a day on my fish tank and I was going to spend it all with you but now you'll never get a dime and 3) I'm going to blast you on the boards if you don't.....

LOL. At least it's funny when they say it.

Well Keep in mind with the boards, most people will not take one experience to heart. I, for one, as Lynn said, like to hear both sides, I am glad you inserted your input. I don't see it as a defense, I see it as a full story. there are always 2 sides. Just because "Mud" had a bad experience with you, would not stop me from purchasing from your store. Besides, his posting is obviously inflammatory. What business would call him a "liar" etc in an email...

One "bad" experience does not contribute to a bad company to deal with..

Another think I look at on these type of posts is post count. If the person complaining has only signed up for the one purpose then the bad review holds much less of my attention.
Quite frankly I respect the effort you are making to reply to the accusations.

Excellent point Lynn, I hadn't thought of that. And I agree, the effort is very commendable
