| Bryozoan | Clam color fading I have a 3.5" crocea for about 4 months now. It is the normal deep blue and seems fine except it has some areas where the color is fading from its mantle. It is in the same spot anchorded to a rock resting on the sandbed. The shell has eveident it has grown and opens and closes noramally. The fading areas are near the ends between the folds and overlaps. Could this be a lighting problem? It is under a 250 MH which is only maybe 6 months old however a generic bulb maybe the life is exhausted. I ordered 2 new Pheonix bulbs hoping that is the issue could it be something else? My stats are: Cal 320 KH 10.2 Ph 8.2 Mag 1300 amn, trite, Pho at 0 trates are less the 5 Last edited by Tab964 : 11-05-2009 at 12:29 PM. Reason: I mean Cal at 420 not 320 |

| Bryozoan | Re: Clam color fading Well my calcium is actualy 420. I edit the first post but it is toward bottom where you can't really see it. The flow is pretty good the edges of mantle do move with the currents. Nothing has really changed in the clams area. When it is closed you can see the growth on the shell and even one of those rib like shell projections that ride up the shell. I am guessing crocea get them as well but are more visible on maximas. |

| Wannabe Guru ![]() | Re: Clam color fading The lighting appears sufficient but have there been any sudden fluctuations in parameters particularly cal/alk/mag ? Have you inspected for any Pyramid snails ?

| Bryozoan | Re: Clam color fading Well my Alk was a little low enough to cause some loss on my birds nest, it is now normal. As for the snails what do they look like. I did find one of those sundial looking snails with the black and white alterbating stripes on a zoo but pulled it and flushed. Are the pyramid large enough to see? |
