| Bryozoan | Re: found a clam There have been several small clams I have found attached to varies peices of live rock and coral pieces in my tank. Many on them I never notice until they would clear the sand from there area when on the bottom. Mine have never gotten big, in comparison to the choice clams like maxima or even a corcea. Mine lived for years near the bottom hidden in creavices of rocks almost no light. If they are the same as I had they never got to big (always less than 1") and no color to the mantle looks like the kind you eat the restaurants only smaller. So at that size no impact on water. And mine have been almost buried in the sand or and the bottom of live rock and lived for years. |

| Elegance coral | Re: found a clam It should be fine. What color is the mantle and how big is it? Like the others have said, there are little clams that can hitchhike on rocks and will do just fine with little to no light. I have some in my sump. They get no light, just filter feed. Oh and if it dies, it won't nuke the tank. Unless of course it's a huge clam and causes a ammonia spike, but that would have to be a pretty big clam.
