Clam Fragging?

I went to a coral frag swap two weeks ago just to find good deals on equipment but in one place they had clams that they said they fragged, how do they do this.

Re: Clam Fragging?

To the best of my knowledge they can't.
Are you sure they weren't Aquacultured clams? Those do exist and are becoming more and more available.

A reef tank is like a race car. The faster you go the harder you crash.

Re: Clam Fragging?

You cannot frag a clam. Clams are like other inverts such as shrimp and crabs where if you cut it in half, half the organs would be on one side, half on the other and some parts would be cut in half and/or damaged. Therefore the clam would die. Does this help explain things? It was most likely aquacultured.
